Horror movies based on video games

Making movie adaptations of critically acclaimed horror games may deem a challenge. The scary atmosphere often comes from the player being able to choose an action so making them a passive viewer may disrupt the horror elements. That doesn’t mean filmmakers should or will stop trying to make adaptations of big horror games.
Exit 8
A man finds himself trapped in one of Japan’s subway stations. He gets the instructions that he can leave through exit eight. However while walking the seemingly identical halls he also has to look for anomalies and turn around when he notices them. If he continues on he’ll end up in the same place he started. The anomalies can be hard to spot and it doesn’t help that what seems to be normal is odd as well, like the unresponsive man he keeps passing in the halls. He must spot all of the anomalies to make it out of the maze or a fate worse than being stuck there may await him.
Until dawn
A group of friends find themselves in the middle of nowhere while looking for their missing friend. A man points them in the direction of an old inn and they make their way over. However the inn seems to be surrounded by a weird weather phenomena which traps the group in the area. The night gets even more strange when they all seem to get murdered by a mysterious masked man - only to wake up again the next day. They repeat the same actions as the previous night and even though the thing that kills them changes, they seem to be stuck in a time loop. While dying over and over again they try to solve the mystery of how and why the loop continues and if there is a way out.
Silent hill
When young girl Sharon continues to sleepwalk without explanation, her adoptive mother Rose decides to take her to the place she mentions every time it happens, Silent Hill. She hopes it will help and solve her daughter's nocturnal activities. But once in the small town, Sharon disappears and a mysterious fog settles over the entire area. When Rose begins encountering deformed monsters, she becomes even more desperate to try to find Sharon and get them both out of there. But it turns out that it won't be that easy when a cult within the fog takes an interest in Sharon.
Ao Oni
A group of teenagers find themselves at an abandoned house, their own curiosity urging them to enter. What at first just seems like an empty old house soon turns into a nightmare when the group realize that they’re being hunted by a big blue demon. Not only but they’re somehow stuck in the house and have to solve puzzles to get out. But there is another mystery besides how to get out of the house, Anna suspects that Takuro, the group's bully, is behind her brother's death. In order to survive, they must work together, but at the same time Anna wants to get to the bottom of her brother's death and get Takuro to confess to the murder.
