The Hitcher (1986)

An innocent young guy paid to drive a car across America decides on a whim to pick up a hitchhiker. It's a mistake that could cost him his liberty and even his life, as the psychopathic hitcher, who simply enjoys killing people, sets him up as the fall guy for his crimes as well as pursuing him and a waitress with deadly purpose.
