DS Ronnie Brooks agrees to help his old friend and partner DS Jimmy Valentine in an undercover drugs sting, but tragedy strikes when an innocent bystander is shot dead. As both Internal Affairs and the CPS investigate the shooting, they are forced to turn their spotlight on Brooks and, as the case proceeds, a murky episode from Brooks's past comes to light.
