As 1966 draws to a close, the body of a disreputable journalist found in mysterious circumstances threatens to expose unspeakable horrors from the past and, as the investigation deepens, Endeavour and DI Fred Thursday find themselves confronted by a wall of silence and a disparate group of men unwilling to talk.
