Orange Is the New Black
Prison isn't exactly cozy TV, but Orange Is the New Black somehow just is. It's hilarious one minute and absolutely devastating the next – sometimes both at once. The women in there aren't stereotypes or plot devices. They feel like real people with actual baggage and histories that'll get to you. The show doesn't pretend things are easier than they are, but it still manages to find real moments – funny ones, human ones – right in the middle of everything falling apart.
How I Met Your Mother
Sometimes you just need a show that feels easy, and this is it. How I Met Your Mother is a dad telling his kids how he met their mom – except it takes nine seasons because, well, nothing in life is straightforward. But it's really about your friends – the ones who turn into family while you're all just trying to work out what you're doing.
