Four movie franchises that should have ended as trilogies

Sometimes moviemakers only need one standalone film to tell their story. Other times they may need to make a trilogy to do the story justice. However, in some cases, they don’t stop after the third and continue to make what some may deem as unnecessary follow-ups. This list contains four such franchises where they should have stopped after the third movie.
Kung Fu Panda
A panda named Po works with his dad in a humble noodle shop even though he dreams of doing kung fu. He especially admires the kung fu warriors called The Furious Five that keep the valley they live in safe. Through what may first seem as coincidence, Po is chosen as the new Dragon Warrior when the threat of Tai Lung approaches the valley. Throughout the first three movies we follow Po's journey as the Dragon Warrior as he learns the meaning of kung fu, how your past doesn’t define you and how to move forward in a sometimes moving, hilarious and action-packed trilogy.

Toy Story
When six-year-old Andy isn’t looking, his toys come alive and have their own little community in his room. The leader of said community is the sheriff doll Woody, Andy’s favorite toy. But Woody feels left behind when Andy gets the new space ranger toy, Buzz Lightyear, for his birthday. When they both end up as lost toys, they have to put their differences aside to make it back in time before Andy and his family move away for good.
Andy grows up during the movies and we get to see the toys handle the changes that come with that, both environmentally and emotionally. The conclusion of the third movie is sentimental, as many of the fans of the franchise grew up with Andy, and seeing him give his toys a new home both hurts but it also feels like a worthy end to their time together.
Men in Black
After proving himself to be an exceptional police officer, James Edwards is recruited into the Men in Black. A secret organization that helps aliens who are migrating to Earth but also protects the planet from aliens who want to do us harm. With his new codename, Agent J and his mentor Agent K do everything, from fighting a giant cockroach, to traveling through time, to protect the world from threats they don't even know about. The trilogy follows Agent J and his journey from rookie as a Men in Black agent to a seasoned veteran. His relationship with Agent K also develops over time as he learns that their paths had crossed much earlier than his first recruitment day.
Pirates of the Caribbean
The first Pirates of the Caribbean film begins with Elizabeth Swann being kidnapped as a means for Captain Barbossa to end the curse he and his crew are suffering from. Will Turner takes it upon himself to rescue Elizabeth, with the help of Captain Jack Sparrow, who wants to take back the ship Barbossa stole from him. The story develops further in the second movie when Jack receives a curse from the legendary Captain Davy Jones. Will and Elizabeth's relationship is also put to the test as they get separated while trying to rescue Jack and also help Will’s dad who is one of Davy Jones’ crewmembers. The third film concludes the story with an epic battle in the middle of a storm where some curses are lifted and others are transferred.
