Erotic Thrillers That Get Your Heart Racing

You know that embarrassing feeling when Basic Instinct suddenly started playing while you and the family were chilling on the couch on a late summer evening? That’s the feeling we’re diving into today.
Today, highly esteemed reader, you’re getting some tips on erotic thrillers. Movies that make your pulse race in more ways than one.
Basic Instinct (1992)
We’re kicking things off with the movie I think pops into most people’s heads when the genre comes up: Basic Instinct. Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone seduce, challenge and manipulate each other for about two hours. Sounds pretty great, right?
Violent cop Nick Curran gets a new case on his desk: the brutal murder of a former rock star. The investigation leads him to the seductive girlfriend Catherine, who was dating the rock star at the time of the murder.

Fatal Attraction (1987)
The movie that made cheating men look over their shoulders once or twice, Fatal Attraction knocked everyone out in 1987. Michael Douglas (again!) gives a fantastic performance and Glenn Close is absolutely magical in this thrilling and creepy erotic thriller.
Happily married Dan Gallagher makes the mistake of his life when he has a one-night stand with his colleague Alex Forrest. Gallagher hopes to put the whole thing behind him, but Forrest has very different plans.
Bound (1996)
The Wachowski siblings’ debut film is an impressively tight erotic thriller. In fact, the siblings directed Bound partly to gain enough trust to make the sci-fi classic The Matrix three years later. You wouldn’t know Bound was some kind of second choice, though.
Ex-con Corky gets hired as a plumber and meets his neighbour Ceasar and his girlfriend Violet. Corky starts a heated romance with Violet and together they decide to steal a huge sum of money from Ceasar. The only problem is that it happens to be the mafia’s money.
Wild Things (1998)
A very well-liked school guidance counselor is accused of raping two female students. The community turns against him and his life takes a dark turn. Police officer Ray Duquette investigates the events and starts pulling at threads that reveal a web of strange happenings.
Wild Things is a movie that could only have been made in the ’90s. In a post-MeToo context, some of its subject matter may seem provocative, but a good film can do that. Denise Richards, Neve Campbell and Kevin Bacon star in this wonderfully chaotic thriller.
Body Heat (1981)
A hugely influential film in the genre that shook up Hollywood quite a bit upon its release. The movie was unusually explicit in its depiction of sex and violence in a way that both outraged and seduced audiences.
A heatwave sweeps across Florida and lawyer Ned is trying to get his mediocre career in order. He meets Matty Walker, an unhappily married but highly seductive woman. Together, the duo hatch a devilish plan – to murder her wealthy husband.
