When her grandmother passes away, Nikki begins to have doubts about her profession. As she experiences a crisis of faith, the team is drawn into the investigation of a series of brutal, apparently motiveless murders. The trail leads into the unfamiliar and rarefied world of obscure academic philosophy. Meanwhile, Harry investigates the death of a woman who appears to have drowned in three inches of water.
