Alicia and Will must rush into a trial without time to prepare properly when they learn that an impending Supreme Court ruling could result in their wealthy client Colin Sweeney being jailed for life for a relatively minor offence. Diane asks her old flame, ballistics expert Kurt McVeigh, to advise her team, but she soon has to re-assess her relationship with him.
