World at War

Japan

Japan had entered the war confident that superior spiritual strength and discipline would prevail. By 1944, they were fighting for survival, crippled by shortages of food, metals and fuel. After massive defeats at Saipan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, a continuous campaign of Allied bombing kills 250,000 and leaves eight million homeless.
