Upstairs, Downstairs

It's June 1909 and Elizabeth, now 21, is in love with the poet Lawrence Kirkbridge. She is determined to lead a modern life against current social convention and, as the Edwardian era draws to a close, the pair eventually marry. Meanwhile, her brother James renews an old friendship `behind the footlights'.
