On holiday in Florence, Charlotte Bartlett and her cousin encounter Mr Emerson, an English tourist accompanied by his son. After an unpleasant incident, the two women return to England but when Mr Emerson turns up as a tenant of a nearby house, all sorts of romantic complications ensue.
