Science fellow George Jeffers threatens to go public with what he believes is a potentially lethal software glitch in a new air traffic control system. American software boss Clinton Finn fears he will lose millions if the truth comes out and puts pressure on the University authorities, but when village schoolteacher Emily Harte is killed by a hit-and-run driver, Barnaby wonders if Jeffers was the real target.
