This Island Earth (1955)

Mysterious scientist Exeter gathers the world's finest brains around him, including Drs Cal Meachham and Ruth Adams to enlist their help. He reveals he is from the planet Metaluna, which faces destruction by the attacking Zahgonians. Only atomic power will create a shield strong enough to protect his world. Exeter takes the pair to his planet, where they see the hideous mutants that have been created.
