Series 1 Episode 2: The Clash of Titans

Dr Thomas Asbridge looks beyond the legends of medieval titans Richard the Lionheart and Saladin, sultan of Islam and Muslim hero, to begin to understand them as men. Both were capable of dark deeds and acts of stunning genius. In July 1192, Richard stood poised for a strike on Jerusalem. At the same time, Saladin readied his troops inside the city, preparing for the inevitable attack.
