Time Team

A park just behind Portsmouth's Tudor naval defences is the site of one of the city's oldest buildings: a hospital built by monks in 1212. A small part of it still stands, converted to a beautiful church, but no one knows where the rest of it was or what it looked like. Armed with geophys equipment and some of the oldest maps in Britain, the team set about unearthing Portsmouth's medieval past.
