Bertrand believes that if he reads the last words of the Praedictum Impaver, all the power within the book will go to him. Ryan discovers a kidnapped Erin and learns that breather blood creates text in the book, and then he steals the book for Ingrid. Vlad senses Erin is in danger and when he gets to her she tells him about Bertrand, Ryan and the book.
