Contact (1997)

A scientist receives a message from a distant point in the universe which proves the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life. Encoded in the mass of data she receives from space is a blueprint for a spacecraft. Despite protests from religious leaders, the ship is built and she is launched into deep space without any knowledge of the aliens' intentions.
