The Bombing of Germany

A documentary that examines the US bombing campaign waged against Nazi Germany in WWII. In the summer of 1942, the US 8th Air Force mounted a daylight raid that destroyed railyards in occupied France while avoiding civilian populations. This mission suggested that precision daytime bombing could successfully obliterate military targets while keeping civilian casualties to a bare minimum. As the programme shows, however, by February 1945 this strategy had long been abandoned.
