The director turns his attention to the 1950s, a decade which saw Dwight Eisenhower replace Harry Truman as president and relations with the Soviet Union worsen, despite the death of Stalin. Stone reflects on the emergence of the H-bomb, the Korean War and US rearmament, as well as the continuing rise of McCarthyism.
